A tragic event shook the streets of Encino in the early hours of Tuesday, February 20, 2024. A car, driven by a young 14-year-old, lost control at high speed and crashed into an electricity pole. This fatal car accident in Encino left one person dead and two injured, according to Los Angeles police authorities.
The vehicle involved in this fateful accident was a silver sedan that, after the impact, quickly caught fire. Despite the rapid unfolding of events, the police managed to rescue the teenage driver and one of the passengers from the wrecked car. However, another passenger was trapped in the back seat and tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Preliminary reports suggest that the car may have been stolen, although this information has not yet been confirmed by authorities. The police initially spotted the vehicle while it was heading south on Balboa Boulevard, approaching Highway 101, around 12:15 a.m. Surprisingly, the car’s lights were off, raising suspicions among LAPD officers from the West Valley Patrol Division.
Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver chose to accelerate, triggering a series of events that culminated in the fatal accident. Officers, in consideration of public safety, decided not to initiate an active pursuit. However, just seconds later, the driver lost control of the car while attempting to make a left turn on Ventura Boulevard, ending in a tragic collision with the pole.
The name of the deceased passenger has not yet been revealed, and authorities are in the process of investigating to clarify the exact details of this unfortunate event. Both the driver and the injured passenger were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
