Two Lives Lost in Collision on Highway 43

Bakersfield, California – Two lives were lost in a devastating encounter between two vehicles on Highway 43 during the early hours of Sunday, May 12. Around 3:34 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to Highway 43, north of Pond Road, after receiving reports of a serious injury collision.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a driver, behind the wheel of a Honda, was traveling northbound on Highway 43 and veered left, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with a Dodge vehicle traveling southbound.

The 58-year-old driver of the Dodge was unable to avoid the collision in time, resulting in a frontal impact between the two vehicles. The Dodge also carried three additional passengers, authorities stated.

The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries and lost his life at the scene of the tragic incident. Unfortunately, a 69-year-old passenger in the Dodge also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident site, officials reported.

The driver of the Dodge and the other two passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Kern Medical Center for medical treatment.

The California Highway Patrol announced the possible involvement of alcohol and drugs as a factor in this collision on Highway 43.
