Fatal Accident on Riverside’s 91 Freeway

Riverside, California – A series of collisions near a busy interchange in Riverside resulted in one fatality and the closure of part of the 91 Freeway for several hours on Tuesday morning.

The tragic events began shortly before 1 a.m. when up to eight vehicles were involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound 215 Freeway near Center Street. 

Authorities reported that one person was trapped in a vehicle and had to be rescued and transported to a local hospital. While officials worked hard to divert the accumulating traffic in the area, a second collision was reported around 2 a.m.

In this case, an SUV collided with the rear of a semi-truck on the eastbound 91 Freeway near the 60/215 freeway interchange, approaching the site of the initial crash. Unfortunately, one person, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Due to the severity of the accidents, a SigAlert was issued for the closure of the northbound lanes of the 91 Freeway near the interchange. Emergency and cleanup crews worked for several hours to clear the accident scene.

Finally, around 7 a.m., the scene was cleared, and the freeway lanes were reopened to traffic. However, investigations into the causes of accidents are ongoing, and authorities are urging drivers to proceed cautiously and follow traffic instructions.
