San Bernardino, California – A chaotic road rage incident resulted in the deaths of two men in San Bernardino. The incident began with a minor collision on Interstate 210 on Saturday, July 27, shortly before 8 p.m.
The motorcyclist, Jonathan McConnell, 38, from Corona, was lane-splitting when he collided with a car carrying two children in the back seat. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist did not stop after the collision.
The car’s driver, Aaron Harris, 37, from Highland, pursued the motorcyclist following the incident. The chase ended outside Joy’s Lounge, a bar in Highland, where McConnell was in the parking lot with some acquaintances. The tension between the two men quickly escalated, leading to a fatal exchange of gunfire.
Reports indicate that Harris shouted threats at McConnell before firing a gun. McConnell returned fire, resulting in fatal injuries for both men. Additionally, a third man in the parking lot suffered a hand injury during the shootout.
Fortunately, Harris’s children, aged 2 and 5, who were in the car during the initial collision, were not harmed. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the children were safe.
The ongoing investigation will seek to clarify the exact circumstances that led to this tragic confrontation. Depending on the findings, authorities may consider additional charges.
