In the early hours of Wednesday, around 4:15 a.m., a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling eastbound on Interstate 8 near Dunaway Road lost control and rolled several times. The violent impact caused two passengers—a woman and a 70-year-old man—to be ejected onto the roadway.
Authorities confirmed that both passengers died at the scene. The driver, a 59-year-old woman, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by paramedics to Desert Regional Medical Center’s Trauma Unit for treatment.
California Highway Patrol officers later placed the driver under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
