One person died Friday afternoon after a vehicle caught fire on Interstate 10 (San Bernardino Freeway) near Pacific Avenue in West Covina.
The accident was reported around 3:47 p.m., when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived to find a red vehicle engulfed in flames, according to Officer Erik Larson.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities have not confirmed whether the fire was the result of a crash, though debris from other vehicles was found on the roadway, suggesting there may have been a prior collision.
- The victim, whose identity and age have not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Eastbound access from Pacific Avenue remained closed for several hours under a SigAlert while investigators worked at the scene.
