A multiple-vehicle crash in Fresno County has claimed one life and left six others injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of Elkhorn Avenue and Highway 41, just south of Fresno, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The collision took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. last Monday when a commercial truck towing a trailer was traveling south on Highway 41, transitioning from four lanes to two. In this situation, the truck collided with the stopped traffic at the intersection.
Preliminary investigations conducted by authorities revealed that the driver of the commercial truck was distracted, which prevented them from reacting in time to the stopped traffic. This distraction caused the truck to crash violently into the rear of a Toyota, which, in turn, collided with a Chevrolet in front of it. This chain reaction resulted in the Chevrolet crashing into a Ford commercial truck ahead of it.
The aftermath of this unfortunate accident was devastating. The Toyota had three occupants, with the driver sustaining minor injuries, while the female passenger died instantly. The baby in the back seat of the Toyota had to be airlifted to a local hospital due to the injuries sustained.
The occupants of the Chevrolet also suffered significant injuries as a result of the impact. In total, the accident involved four vehicles and resulted in seven casualties.
