Fresno County, California – The Selma Police Department and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have reported that a 72-year-old woman is in the process of recovery after being hit by a Selma Police vehicle.
On Friday, at 7:55 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a request from the Selma Police Department to investigate an injury accident in the city of Selma. The accident involved an on-duty Selma Police officer.
According to the investigation, an on-duty officer from the Selma Police Department struck a 72-year-old pedestrian with a marked Selma Police vehicle. Fortunately, the woman received immediate attention at the scene and was later transported to a local hospital for further care, with no life-threatening injuries reported.
The Selma Police Department has fully cooperated in the investigation, ruling out alcohol and/or drugs as possible factors in the accident. Both the police department and the involved officer are cooperating in the ongoing investigation, which includes an internal affairs review.
