Placer County, CA – According to a report from Placer County authorities, Interstate 80 in Placer County has recently reopened after a serious accident that led to multiple people being hospitalized.
The California Highway Patrol’s Auburn division reported that a gold Ford SUV was traveling westbound on Ophir Road when, for reasons still unknown, it collided with the center divider at around 2:45 p.m. This impact caused the SUV to roll over multiple times before finally landing upright.
A 30-year-old woman from Stockton, who was driving the vehicle, suffered serious injuries, while a 39-year-old man in the passenger seat sustained a leg fracture, according to the CHP. Both were immediately transported to the hospital for medical attention. Additionally, three children, ages 2, 8, and 9, who were in the vehicle, were also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Caltrans issued a statement on social media at 4:24 p.m. announcing that the highway has reopened to traffic. However, drivers are cautioned about the possibility of residual traffic in the area.
