Buttonwillow, California – A tragic accident occurred on Highway 43 on Wednesday, resulting in the tragic death of a driver after a head-on collision with a semi-truck. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has confirmed the details of the incident.
According to CHP reports, the accident took place around 12:15 p.m. on Highway 43, specifically north of Panama Lane. The report indicates that a 42-year-old man from Bakersfield was driving a Kia Soul southbound on Highway 43, while a semi-truck was approaching from the opposite direction at an approximate speed of 57 mph.
The circumstances that led to the tragic accident have not been fully clarified. However, it is known that the driver of the Kia Soul was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact. According to the reconstruction of events by the authorities, the Kia suddenly veered into the northbound lane, resulting in a collision with the moving semi-truck.
The Kia Sol, after the collision, lost control and overturned by the side of the road. Unfortunately, the driver of the Kia Soul lost his life at the scene of the accident. On the other hand, the driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
As a result of the accident, State Route 43 had to be temporarily closed between the area just north of Panama Lane and the intersection with State Route 58, as confirmed by Caltrans.
At this time, it has not been immediately determined whether the use of drugs or alcohol played any role in the development of this tragic incident. CHP has requested that anyone with relevant information about the accident contact the relevant authorities by calling the Buttonwillow station at 661-764-5580.
This unfortunate collision with semi-truck underscores the importance of road safety and compliance with traffic regulations, including the proper use of seat belts while driving.
