Los Angeles, California – An East Los Angeles pursuit ended in a violent crash involving multiple vehicles on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in the afternoon.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Arizona Avenue and 4th Street, just east of the 710 Freeway. According to reports from local media, three vehicles were involved in the accident, causing significant property damage and possibly injuries to the occupants.
Preliminary information indicates that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies were pursuing a stolen vehicle at the time of the accident. However, it has not yet been definitively confirmed which vehicle was the subject of the pursuit.
The accident scene showed a white Toyota Tacoma truck with its front end smashed, as well as a smaller car with its rear destroyed. Additionally, another vehicle was stopped several feet away from the other two cars, in the middle of a nearby intersection, indicating the magnitude of the impact.
The suspect involved in the pursuit and subsequent crash was apprehended at the scene. Images captured by Sky5 showed law enforcement officers assisting him while being loaded onto a stretcher, suggesting he may have sustained injuries as a result of the incident.
In addition to the pursuit and crash, the suspect is also suspected of assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon. Although authorities have not disclosed the exact type of weapon used, this incident further escalates the situation and could result in additional charges against the individual detained.
The total number of victims has not yet been officially confirmed by authorities. However, it was reported that up to six ambulances were called to the scene of the accident, indicating the severity of the situation and the need for medical attention for those involved in the crash.
