Fatal Crash on I-10 Freeway in Boyle Heights Leaves One Dead

One Person Killed in I-10 Freeway Crash in Boyle Heights 🚗💔

Los Angeles, CA – November 16, 2025 | Ayuda California News
One person was killed early Saturday morning in a crash on I-10 Freeway that involved two vehicles and caused partial lane closures in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

The collision was reported around 4:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the freeway, just east of Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Preliminary reports indicate:

  • Two vehicles collided on wet pavement.
  • One car began smoking, while the other spun around and ended up facing the wrong direction in traffic lanes.
  • All lanes were initially stopped to allow emergency crews to respond.

By 5:00 a.m., only lanes 2 and 3 remained closed as CHP officers conducted their investigation under a SigAlert that lasted roughly 90 minutes.
The CHP confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined whether rain and slick road conditions played a role.

Legal Rights for Victims and Their Families

When a fatal accident occurs — even under adverse weather conditions — California law provides key protections for victims’ families.

Under the California Code of Civil Procedure §377.60 – §377.61, surviving family members may file a wrongful death claim, which can cover:

  • Funeral and emergency medical expenses
  • Loss of the victim’s income and financial support
  • Emotional suffering and loss of companionship

If another driver is found negligent, such as speeding or failing to control their vehicle on wet roads, the family may also pursue punitive damages under Civil Code §3294.
