Long Beach, CA – November 11, 2025 | Ayuda California News

A driver was killed early Tuesday morning in a fatal crash in Long Beach that occurred when another vehicle attempted to make a U-turn, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

The collision was reported around 4:35 a.m. at the intersection of 10th Street and Orange Avenue, when an eastbound car struck another vehicle attempting to turn. The impact sent one of the vehicles (an older-model dark-colored sedan) into several parked cars nearby.

The sedan’s driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, according to the preliminary report. Authorities said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, though the investigation remains ongoing.

Dangerous Driving Maneuvers in Long Beach

According to data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), illegal or unsafe driving maneuvers, including improper turns and U-turns in residential areas, are among the leading causes of fatal crashes in Long Beach.

Between 2022 and 2024, these types of collisions increased by 17%, particularly during low-visibility hours. The Los Angeles metropolitan area, which includes Long Beach, recorded over 240 traffic deaths in 2024, many linked to driver distraction or inadequate signage.

Legal Rights for Families of Victims

  • Funeral and emergency medical expenses
  • Loss of income and financial support
  • Emotional distress from loss of companionship and moral support
  • Punitive damages (CC §3294) if gross or reckless negligence is proven

Additionally, if the crash was caused by poor roadway design or inadequate signage, families may pursue government liability claims under California Government Code §835.
