Los Angeles County, California – A man lost his life after his vehicle lost control and collided with two other cars. The California Highway Patrol reported that the fatal incident occurred on Arrow Highway, near Barranca Avenue, at 9:27 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023.
A 60-year-old man from San Dimas was driving a 2001 Audi A4 westbound on Arrow Highway at an undetermined speed. Tragically, he lost control of his vehicle, crossing into the eastbound lanes and colliding with two approaching vehicles: a Hyundai Accent and a Mazda 3.
The Audi moved into the number one lane of eastbound Arrow Highway, colliding with the Hyundai. Out of control, the Audi continued into the number two lane of eastbound Arrow Highway, crashing into the Mazda.
As a result of the impact, the Audi driver, a man from San Dimas, was ejected from his vehicle and unfortunately lost his life at the scene. His identity has not been disclosed at this time.
The Hyundai driver, identified as 39-year-old Jessica Ottaviano from Pomona, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital for treatment. On the other hand, the occupants of the Mazda, 32-year-old Estephanie Padilla and a 14-year-old girl from El Monte, sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
Authorities stated that alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this tragic three-vehicle collision on Arrow Highway. Although some witnesses reported that the vehicles were racing before the collision, the CHP has not yet confirmed this information.
Images from the scene revealed the three mangled vehicles, surrounded by debris scattered across the road and sidewalk. One vehicle appeared to have caught fire.
