Mother of Six Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident

POMONA, CALIFORNIA – A family is devastated following the tragic death of Carol Fuentes, a 57-year-old mother of six, who was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Pomona.

Carol Fuentes remained hospitalized for over a week before succumbing to her injuries. Her family shared that she was only three minutes away from home when a driver struck her vehicle and fled the scene.

The Pomona Police Department reported that officers responded to a three-vehicle accident at Garey and Orange Grove avenues around 9 p.m. on July 5th. Fuentes and another person were injured in the incident.

Police stated that the driver of a Ford Expedition fled the scene and has yet to be located. Family members are pleading for the person responsible to come forward. “Destroying an entire car and killing someone like this, not knowing if they are dead or not, is what hurts the most,” expressed Andy Diaz, one of Fuentes’ children.

The impact of the accident left Fuentes’ blue Nissan completely wrecked. Her family recounts that she fought valiantly for her life after sustaining severe spinal cord and brain injuries. She ultimately passed away due to her injuries.

Carol Fuentes leaves a significant void in her family, including six children and a husband with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.

To cope with the high funeral costs, the family has launched a GoFundMe page.

The Pomona police urge anyone with information about the accident to come forward and assist in the quest for justice for Carol Fuentes and her family.
