Legal Rights of Victims and Their Families
In multi-vehicle crashes like this, California law allows victims and their families to explore several legal options, depending on the investigation’s findings. These may include:
- Personal injury claims for those who were hospitalized
- Wrongful death claims under California Code of Civil Procedure §377.60–377.61
- Shared liability, if more than one driver contributed to the crash, under California’s pure comparative negligence system (Li v. Yellow Cab Co.)
- Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, if any responsible party lacked sufficient insurance
Each case requires a detailed legal and technical analysis to determine fault and pursue fair compensation.
