Napa Tragedy: 6 Dead and 2 Injured in DUI Crash

Six people were killed and two others were seriously injured after a Toyota Sienna minivan slammed into a tree in the rural area of Pope Valley, northeast of Calistoga, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Authorities suspect a possible DUI crash.

The crash occurred Sunday, September 7, around 5:50 p.m. at 6198 Pope Valley Road, near Pope Valley Union Elementary School and Calla Lily Estate and Winery.

Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

The driver of the minivan, a man who sustained major injuries, was airlifted to a local hospital along with another injured passenger. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), causing death and injury, according to CHP Sgt. Andrew Barclay.

Six passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities, and it is pending family notification.
