In a tragic incident in Modesto, one man lost his life, and two individuals sustained minor injuries in a suspected DUI crash on Saturday afternoon.
The first collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Tully Road and Briggsmore Avenue, as reported by the Modesto Police Department. Initial investigations revealed that a 37-year-old man, behind the wheel of a GMC Yukon, was heading east on Briggsmore when he collided with another vehicle on Tully Road. He then continued south on Tully Road and was involved in a second collision. As a result of this second impact, the driver lost control of the Yukon, which ultimately overturned.
Tragically, the man was ejected from the vehicle and, despite being transported by ambulance to a hospital, did not survive.
The second collision occurred around 5:20 p.m. The Modesto Fire Department dispatched their teams to the scene of the second crash, which happened in the area of Tully and Oakwood Drive, just south of Orangeburg Avenue. It’s worth noting that there were no passengers in the GMC Yukon, and only minor injuries were reported to the other parties involved in the accident. Law enforcement authorities strongly suspect that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this tragic incident.
