Nevada County, California – In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old woman lost her life while riding as a passenger in a vehicle that crashed during a DoorDash delivery in Nevada County, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
Around 2:45 a.m., officers from the Grass Valley CHP responded to the scene after receiving reports of a single-vehicle accident on or near State Highway 20, near the South Ponderosa overpass.
Upon arrival, they found a 2007 Acura TL with two occupants on board. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Grass Valley, was identified as the vehicle’s operator. Authorities presume he fell asleep at the wheel, causing the car to veer off to the north side of the highway and collide with a series of trees.
An ambulance from the Penn Valley Fire Department responded to the accident site and unfortunately pronounced the passenger deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. It is noted that both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, and there is no suspicion of drug or alcohol involvement.
