Police Chase in Fresno Leaves Two Dead and Multiple Injured

Fresno County, CA – Two 19-year-olds died Saturday night following a fatal police chase in Fresno, when a fleeing Dodge Charger collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of Temperance and Belmont Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The Incident: A Night of Chaos

The pursuit began when the Dodge driver, identified as Luis Felix of Fresno, was caught on video performing donuts at the intersection of Gettysburg and Temperance Avenue. Upon noticing law enforcement’s presence, Felix accelerated and ignored police lights and sirens, initiating a high-speed chase.

Minutes later, the Dodge rear-ended a Toyota Camry and stopped at a stop sign. The Charger then lost control and crashed into a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe, causing both vehicles to block the intersection.

Identified Victims

  • Andrew Webb, 19, of Fresno
  • Adrian Labra Jr., 19, recently moved to Sacramento

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Additional passengers in the Dodge also sustained injuries:

  • A 20-year-old male passenger is in critical condition
  • A fourth passenger suffered minor injuries

In the Chevrolet Tahoe, an adult woman and three children—ages 9, 4, and 1—sustained minor injuries. The Toyota driver also suffered minor wounds.

Charges Against the Driver

Luis Felix was transported with serious injuries to Community Regional Medical Center. He was later electronically booked into the county jail and now faces four felony charges, including:

  • Evading police
  • Evading causing injury or death (three counts)
  • Driving under the influence (suspected)

His bail was set at $355,000. The case remains under investigation by CHP.

Public Safety: A Non-Negotiable Priority

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), police pursuits result in more than 300 deaths per year in the U.S., many involving pedestrians and innocent passengers. In California, policies around police chases are under constant scrutiny to minimize collateral damage.

This case underscores the dangers of reckless driving, fleeing law enforcement, and suspected DUI—especially when it endangers entire families, including young children.
