Salt Lake City – Amid adversity, the Cornelsen family confronts the challenge of recovery after a tragic accident left Dr. Ronald Cornelsen, his daughter Heather Williams, and her husband severely injured.
What began as a brave and selfless act of stopping to assist in an emergency turned into a devastating twist of fate.

Less than half an hour’s drive from their hotel, Cornelsen, Williams, and her husband witnessed an accident on November 6 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a pickup truck attempted a U-turn to help jump-start a stranded car on the side of the road. However, as the truck turned, another car collided violently with its side.
After parking their car at a safe distance, Cornelsen and Williams went to check on the victims, of whom only one suffered minor injuries.
But then a cargo truck crashed into the T-boned pickup, pushing it towards Cornelsen and Williams. Both were trapped under debris, and severely injured.
The Cornelsen family, in their quest for support during this challenging time, has turned to online solidarity by creating a GoFundMe account.
