Vehicle Pursuit and Rollover in West Covina

Los Angeles County, California – A vehicle theft suspect involved in a high-speed pursuit in Southern California was finally apprehended on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, after a violent rollover in West Covina.

Officers from the La Verne Police Department received a notification from authorities in Upland, alerting them to a male suspect and a female passenger in a stolen vehicle in the area of Williams Avenue and Foothill Boulevard around 4 p.m., as reported by LAVPD in a press release.

The driver did not stop the vehicle when the police attempted to pull it over, triggering a pursuit that headed onto the westbound Interstate 10.

Amid the pursuit, the female passenger repeatedly attempted to exit the vehicle but was forced by the driver to remain inside. She finally managed to escape after the suspect slowed down enough.

Despite the passenger’s escape, the man continued the pursuit both on Interstate 10 and through the streets of West Covina, even entering an Ikea store parking lot.

Upon exiting the parking lot, the suspect collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Barranca and Garvey avenues, causing his vehicle to rollover.

Subsequent aerial images showed a heavy presence of law enforcement and medical services at the scene, where debris was scattered across the road due to the accident.

Although the suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries, he was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed, nor have details about the female passenger been provided. It is expected that the individual will face charges for felony evasion, domestic violence, and kidnapping.
