What was supposed to be the beginning of a birthday celebration ended in tragedy after a mother and her two daughters were involved in a wrong-way crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield, north of Seventh Standard Road.
What Happened in Bakersfield, California?
Vanessa Sue Wetmore, a 41-year-old woman, attended a concert at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, with her 20-year-old daughter, Kylie Wetmore, and her other daughter, 16-year-old Kloie Wetmore. The concert featured Three Sacred Souls, La Lom, and the Womack Sisters.
Kylie was driving a 2022 Honda Accord with Vanessa and Kloie as passengers when the vehicle caught fire after colliding with two other vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday at approximately 12:44 a.m. The CHP reported that one of the vehicles was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The other vehicles involved in the crash were a BMW 530i and a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. The BMW was being driven the wrong way by a 44-year-old man, while the pickup truck was driven by a 41-year-old woman.
