At 12:30 am Monday morning, San Diego County Sheriff’s officials were alerted to a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 700 block of Palm Avenue that had sent two teenagers to the hospital.
Witnesses observed a Toyota RAV-4 barreling eastward down Palm Avenue when, soon before the SR-75 & Palm Avenue junction, it careened out of control. The vehicle crashed into an embankment and rolled over several times; consequently striking multiple light posts until finally coming to rest in the oncoming lanes.
After a passerby aided in getting the female passenger out of the wreckage, fire crews used Jaws of Life to facilitate the extraction of the male driver. Both minors were rushed to the hospital by ambulance and their injuries were significant, yet alcohol was not found to be the cause of this incident.
