Multinational company Ford Motor Co. is recalling certain Ranger vehicles from 2004 to 2006 due to passenger-side airbag inflators being installed incorrectly in the front of the vehicles.
According to a recall letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 231,942 vehicles are being recalled for possible inspection and adjustment. The NHTSA stated in the report that the vehicles suffered from faulty airbag installation, which, if not properly deployed, could pose a serious risk to passengers.
As part of the recall agreement, dealerships will be inspecting the vehicles and reinstall the airbag inflator, if necessary, free of charge.
Notification letters are expected to be sent to owners of the affected vehicles starting May 22. Ford Ranger owners from 2004 to 2006 can also contact Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
This Ford vehicle recall is an extreme measure to protect the safety of vehicle owners and occupants, and the manufacturing issue could have been prevented had proper measures been taken.
