Los Angeles, California – Authorities have now identified the individual tragically killed when law enforcement’s pursuit concluded with a crash in South Gate.
The pursuit was initiated by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Monday afternoon in East Los Angeles after receiving reports of a stolen Range Rover.
The pursuit came to a devastating halt at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Monday when the suspect’s vehicle collided with several other vehicles near the intersection of Southern Avenue and State Street, as reported by witnesses at the scene.
Regrettably, the man behind the wheel of a Nissan Sentra lost his life at the South Gate pursuit crash site, and a woman in a Toyota 4Runner sustained injuries.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Jose Mauricio Ochoa Jr., a 34-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
Authorities managed to apprehend a suspect involved in the incident, while deputies continued their search for two additional suspects who fled the scene of collision.
