Sonoma County, California – In a report released in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, by Santa Rosa authorities, a pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Dutton Avenue.
Around 11:08 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, Santa Rosa police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the distress call. The victim, a pedestrian, had been struck by a car, according to Sergeant Summer Gloeckner of the SRPD.
Initial reports indicate that multiple witnesses saw an unconscious pedestrian lying on the road after being hit by a silver BMW. Upon arrival, officers found the pedestrian in the northbound lane of Dutton Avenue, just north of the intersection with Sebastopol Road. Meanwhile, the silver BMW showed significant damage to the front and was stopped on the side of the road.
While securing the scene, the pedestrian was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital with critical injuries. Gloeckner reported that the BMW driver was at the scene and fully cooperated with accident investigators.
There were no indications that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and speed did not appear to be a contributing factor, according to her statements.
Although it was not confirmed whether the pedestrian was in the crosswalk, it was noted that the BMW had the right of way with a green light. The investigation was ongoing at the time of the report, and the police did not disclose the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the incident.
Gloeckner emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that the pedestrian remained in critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with relevant information about the incident is urged to contact Officer John Fisher. The police are committed to clarifying the details of this tragic pedestrian accident in Santa Rosa.
