Sonoma County, California – According to reports from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, a 16-year-old teenager was airlifted to the hospital after being involved in an accident near Petaluma on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
Around 3:40 p.m., the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was conducting aerial patrols over Rohnert Park when they received a call about a car accident on Chileno Valley Road, located outside of Petaluma.
The accident involved a teenager who had been ejected from one of the vehicles involved. Immediately, the helicopter headed to the area and landed in a nearby field to assist.
The medical staff onboard the helicopter began attending to the 16-year-old. Meanwhile, ground emergency teams, including Petaluma firefighters, Gold Ridge firefighters, and an ambulance from the Sonoma County Fire District, also responded to the scene and began providing care to the other victims.
Due to the remote location of the accident, authorities decided to airlift the teenager to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for proper medical treatment. According to reports, the teenager is in stable condition and is cared for by the hospital’s medical staff.
The investigation into the causes of the accident is handled by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic event.
