18-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Santa Barbara County Car Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in rural Santa Barbara County, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old man from Santa Maria.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., the motorcyclist was driving southbound on Foxen Canyon Road, near Sisquoc, when he allowed his Yamaha R6 to drift into the southbound lane, directly into the path of a Honda Accord. The collision resulted in the rider being thrown off his motorcycle and sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, Bobbie Dowdy, and her passenger were both unharmed in the incident. Witnesses at the scene aided in providing aid to the rider until emergency personnel arrived. The identity of the victim has yet to be released pending notification of relatives.

The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the Santa Barbara County car crash and has not determined the exact cause of the crash.
