[San Pedro, CA] On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested Anisha Marie Lockhart, 27, for her involvement in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 51-year-old bicyclist in San Pedro.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras from a nearby business and showed Lockhart’s car striking Oscar Montoya around 12:40 am. The car stopped for a few seconds before then fleeing the scene.
Following citizen tips on the San Pedro hit-and-run, detectives located Lockhart’s vehicle and apprehended her on March 9th using department resources.
At Wednesday’s news conference, Joshua Montoya expressed his frustration after watching the footage of the accident unfold. He stated that it was the most frustrating part seeing his father being struck and the driver’s hesitation before leaving that made his blood boil.
It has been reported that Lockhart was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, having left one bar to go to another. She has since been charged with a felony-level crime and is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
Oscar Montoya was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
