San Diego, California – A car accident in San Marcos claimed the life of a driver when the vehicle he was traveling in collided and overturned, leaving those involved with injuries of unknown severity. The exact location of the incident was on W. San Marcos Blvd., near the intersection of Discovery St.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a 2019 Subaru Forester overturned in the number one lane of W. San Marcos Blvd., eastbound, while a blue 2022 Porsche exhibited damage on the driver’s side. Efforts to assist the trapped driver in the Subaru proved futile, requiring intervention from San Marcos firefighters and paramedics to extricate him.
After being rescued, the driver, a 26-year-old male, was urgently transported to Palomar Medical Center. However, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission to the hospital.
According to preliminary investigation, it was determined that the Subaru was initially traveling eastbound on W. San Marcos Blvd. before veering into another lane, resulting in a collision with the Porsche and subsequent rollover of the Subaru. At this time, alcohol consumption has not been identified as a contributing factor to the accident.
The County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue with the official identification of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death, a process pending notification to his family. Meanwhile, the San Marcos Traffic Unit is conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident.
