CHP Agents Injured in Davis Highway Collision

Sacramento County, California – A shocking Davis highway collision left two California Highway Patrol (CHP) agents injured. The accident, involving a wrong-way driver, raises concerns about road safety in the region.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, around 3 p.m., in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80, west of Mace Boulevard, an incident occurred that left everyone dismayed. Two agents, who were in the same patrol vehicle, had just completed a traffic stop when they were struck by a driver traveling in the wrong direction.

The agents sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, while the reckless driver also sustained minor injuries, as confirmed by the CHP.

It has not yet been determined why the driver was traveling in the wrong lanes. Investigations are underway to determine if driving under the influence of alcohol was a contributing factor in this tragic event.

Lane number 3 of I-80 west of Mace Boulevard will remain closed for an indefinite period, affecting traffic flow in the area.

This collision is not an isolated incident in the Sacramento region. Recent news in California reports a collision on Highway 99, south of Sacramento, where a CHP vehicle was also involved. Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported in that incident, with no need for hospitalization.
