Riverside County, California – A tragic collision in Indio claimed the life of a 29-year-old man. Authorities from Riverside County confirmed the victim’s identity as Yordi Jose Del Toro Mendoza, a resident of Indio.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Monroe Street and Requa Avenue around 2:43 a.m. last Sunday. According to Ben Guitron, spokesperson for the Indio Police Department, it was a collision involving two vehicles. One of the drivers, identified as Mendoza, was trapped in his car and had to be rescued by emergency teams.
After being freed from the vehicle, Mendoza was immediately transported to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital. However, sadly, medical efforts couldn’t save his life, and he was pronounced dead at 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
While the other driver involved in the accident emerged unharmed, authorities have not ruled out any possibilities. The traffic unit of the Indio Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. At this time, it has not been confirmed whether drug and/or alcohol consumption was related to the tragic incident.
