On Thursday, around 11:10 p.m., two Bakersfield Police officers were in a patrol vehicle traveling eastbound on the 300 block of East California Avenue. At the same time, a Toyota Camry was also heading east from the southern edge of California Avenue.
The Toyota violently collided with the patrol vehicle, causing both cars to end up on the raised center divider. As a result of the accident, both officers were injured and had to be transported to a hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were minor, and they were later discharged from medical care.
Thankfully, the driver of the Toyota did not suffer any injuries in the accident. Following the collision, the involved vehicles were towed away from the scene.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department’s report, alcohol, drugs, or speed were not contributing factors to this collision. Authorities will continue investigating the exact circumstances that led to this crash to prevent future similar accidents.
