Fatal Accident in Fresno: Distracted Driving Leads to Multi-Vehicle Crash

A devastating four-vehicle accident has left one person dead and three injured, all due to distracted driving. The California Highway Patrol has reported the details of this unfortunate incident that occurred on Goodfellow Avenue, west of Vista Avenue.

Mike Salas, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, revealed that, according to preliminary investigation, a 26-year-old woman from Dinuba may be responsible for this tragic event. Reports indicate that her distracted driving set off a chain of shocking events, akin to a game of pinball.

Among the collisions that occurred in this fateful incident was a head-on collision that tragically resulted in the death of a 58-year-old man from Reedley.

The investigation suggests that the Dinuba driver, identified in the California Highway Patrol collision report as Anise Huerta, was not paying proper attention while driving her Chevy Silverado. This lack of attention led her to collide with three vehicles in rapid succession.

In a desperate attempt to avoid rear-ending a slowing Toyota Camry, the Silverado driver abruptly veered to the left, entering oncoming traffic. However, despite her efforts, Huerta still collided with the Camry in front of her.

But that was just the beginning of the tragedy. Huerta’s Silverado collided head-on with a BMW driven by the Reedley man, who was in the westbound lane of Goodfellow Avenue. The force of this frontal collision caused the SUV to return to the eastbound lane of Goodfellow, where the Silverado collided with a Hyundai Accent.

The man was transported to Adventist Hospital in Reedley, where, sadly, he succumbed to the severe injuries sustained in the accident.

The Silverado driver was taken to Kaiser Hospital, where she was diagnosed with minor to moderate injuries. On the other hand, the driver of the Accent, a 24-year-old woman from Fowler, was also transported to CRMC with minor to moderate injuries.

In contrast, the Camry driver, a 49-year-old man from Reedley, declined transportation after suffering minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol has indicated that Anise Huerta is likely to face vehicular manslaughter charges due to her distracted driving, which resulted in the tragic loss of a human life.
