Officials reported a head-on collision in South Carolina on Monday that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Shiloh Unity Road in Lancaster County, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The crash involved a 2017 SUV and a 2003 pickup truck. Both drivers were transported by helicopter to Atrium Main Hospital, where the driver of the SUV was later pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Jonathan Montgomery, 45, of Lancaster, according to a statement from the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Lancaster car crash happened East of the county and south of the state line with Union County, North Carolina. The incident remains under investigation by the highway patrol and the coroner’s office.
