(Bakersfield, CA) A man died as a result of a tragic hit at the intersection of Mohawk Street and Hageman Road in northwest Bakersfield, according to a report from the Bakersfield Police Department.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department report, officers were called to the scene early Friday around 12:15 a.m. in response to a collision involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found the man lying on the ground with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was traveling eastbound on Hageman Road when they struck a man crossing the road outside the crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Alcohol or drugs are currently not considered significant factors in the Bakersfield car accident.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
