Man Dies in Hit and Run Accident Southeast of Bakersfield

(Bakersfield, CA) A man died as the victim of a hit-and-run accident Tuesday night, according to a report from the Bakersfield Police Department. 

According to a report from the Bakersfield Police Department, officers were called to the scene of the accident in the 600 block of New Stine Road, north of Belle Terrace.

Upon arrival at the scene, a person was found lying on the ground, paramedics attempted to revive him, but to no avail. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian was walking along the roadway in an unknown direction outside the designated pedestrian crossing when a car traveling northbound struck him. 

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene until paramedics arrived, reported the accident, and cooperated with authorities in their investigation. He reports no serious injuries. 

At this time, alcohol or drugs have been ruled out as a significant factor in the accident. Authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the accident to contact them immediately and assist in the investigation.
