(Orange County, CA) A man died Wednesday morning in a tragic car accident on Route 417 in Orange County, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP report, an 18-year-old driver in a 2022 Dodge Challenger was traveling north on SR-417 when he attempted to change lanes, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
The 2022 Dodge Challenger struck the concrete barrier and then hit a 2014 Ford Escape, causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver of the Escape was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately died shortly thereafter.
The 18-year-old driver did not sustain any injuries, but cases of negligence leading to death could be filed against him.
Authorities have identified the victim as a 69-year-old man from Orange County. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.
It is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were significant factors in this rollover accident on the Orange County State Highway. The investigation is ongoing.
