Man Dies in Scooter Accident in San Jose

San Jose, California – A tragic scooter accident in San Jose resulted in the death of a man. The incident occurred on April 30, 2024, around 1:38 p.m. near the intersection of South 10th and Elizabeth streets, as reported by San Jose police authorities in a recently issued statement.

An adult male was riding a Ninebot scooter along South 10th Street when he became involved in a collision with a Tesla Model Y turning from Elizabeth Street onto South 10th. The impact caused the scooter rider to fall, subsequently being struck by a 2008 Chevy Cobalt.

Both drivers involved in the accident remained at the scene and provided full cooperation to clarify the events, confirmed the relevant authorities.

Following the impact, the scooter rider was urgently transported to a hospital with serious injuries, initially stabilized as indicated in the official statement. However, on May 2, 2024, he tragically succumbed to the injuries sustained during the accident.

This tragic incident marks the fifteenth traffic-related death and the fifteenth fatal crash recorded so far this year in San Jose. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once it has been confirmed and their closest relatives have been notified.
