Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Bakersfield

(Bakersfield, CA) A hit-and-run accident in Bakersfield claimed the life of a pedestrian on Sunday afternoon. The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking witnesses who can assist with the investigation.

According to a report from the BPD, a man was reported lying on the ground around 2:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Brundage Lane near U Street. Upon arrival, authorities noted the man’s severe injuries and, alongside Hall ambulance paramedics, tried to save his life. Unfortunately, he died at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that the man, who has not been identified, was crossing the street outside the crosswalk when he was struck. The driver fled the scene.

At this time, it is unknown whether speeding, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this accident. Kern County authorities urge anyone with relevant information about the accident to contact them at (661) 327-7111 to assist with the investigation.

It is the responsibility of drivers and pedestrians to follow traffic rules to prevent accidents. When driving or walking on the street, stay alert and aware of traffic signals.
