CALIFORNIA – A Southern California man has been missing for nearly two weeks after a mysterious car accident that occurred in the middle of the night.
Authorities are seeking clues that could lead to the whereabouts of 34-year-old William Orellana from Upland.
On July 20, Orellana crashed his white Chrysler 300 into a light pole in Riverside and has not been seen since. He was reported missing the day after the accident.
His personal belongings, including his cell phone and work uniform, were found inside the abandoned vehicle.
Orellana’s car was found in a dangerous position, blocking the roadway, which forced authorities to tow it. “We never made contact with him. He was not in the car at the time of the collision,” officials explained.
The vehicle was struck by another driver around 5 a.m. on July 20. This driver reported to the police that they did not see anyone inside the car.
Orellana’s family is desperate for answers. Kacey Silvas, his girlfriend of the past four years, expressed her confusion and concern: “We don’t know if he hit his head on the steering wheel or if he lost consciousness and doesn’t know who he is. We don’t know anything at this point.” Silvas added that Orellana had no reason to be in the Riverside area as he did not know anyone there and had no family in the vicinity.
Orellana’s disappearance has left his mother, Cynthia Hernandez, in deep anguish. Hernandez commented that her son used to communicate with her several times a day. “It’s the hardest thing a mother can go through,” she said. “Especially when you have such a close relationship. It’s been tough.“
Orellana is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, has green/hazel eyes, a slender build, and distinctive tattoos on his head and neck.
Authorities urge anyone with information about Orellana’s whereabouts to contact the Upland Police Department at (909) 946-7624.
