Police Pursuit in Long Beach: Four Hospitalized

Long Beach, California – A high-speed police pursuit in Long Beach ended in a violent crash on Monday, July 29, resulting in four people being hospitalized, including two suspects.

The incident began shortly before 5:30 p.m. when officers from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) initiated the pursuit of a suspicious vehicle heading eastbound on 4th Street.

The chase reached its climax when the stolen vehicle driver ran a red light at the intersection of 4th Street and Cherry Avenue. A southbound passenger on Cherry Avenue collided violently with the suspects’ car.

According to an LBPD press release, the impact of the collision was so severe that the suspects’ vehicle hit three unoccupied parked cars at the scene. The magnitude of the crash highlights the dangers of high-speed pursuits in urban areas.

Following the crash, the adult driver of the suspects’ vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was later apprehended in the 2000 block of Florida Street. Both suspects were transported to the hospital with upper-body injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.

In addition to the suspects, two men traveling in the passenger vehicle were also injured. Both sustained upper-body injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, they are also reported to be in stable condition.

The quick response of emergency services was crucial in providing timely aid to the victims.

The area around 4th Street and Cherry Avenue was temporarily closed as investigators gathered evidence and cleanup crews worked to clear the debris. This closure was necessary to ensure the area’s safety and to allow a detailed investigation of the incident.

So far, no information has been released regarding the identities of the suspects or the victims. Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident and any possible connections to other crimes in the area.
