[Stanislaus County, CA] Three people tragically lost their lives and two others were hospitalized after a devastating crash in rural Stanislaus County on Monday. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred near Orange Avenue and Elm Avenue in Patterson at approximately 2:20 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found two vehicles — a 2020 Dodge Ram truck and a 2012 Dodge SUV — on their left sides with major damage. All three occupants of the SUV, two men, and one woman died as a result of the crash while the two occupants of the pickup truck, one man and one woman both aged 20, were hospitalized.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the pickup truck was heading eastbound on Orange Avenue when it passed a stop sign and continued into the path of the SUV heading southbound on Elm Avenue. The impact caused both vehicles to end up off the roadway southeast of the intersection.
Both occupants of the pickup truck were taken to Doctors Medical Center for treatment. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash and if seatbelts were in use at the time of the collision.
