On Monday night, a San Ysidro DUI hit-and-run accident was reported, which resulted in a critically injured woman and the arrest of the driver on suspicion of drug use. The 21-year-old man, whose identity has not been revealed, was driving a 2006 BMW X3 northbound on the fast lane of Smythe Avenue near de la Madrid avenue when he hit a woman who was walking on a pedestrian crossing.
The victim has been identified as a woman between 20 and 25 years old, according to authorities. As a result of the hit-and-run, the woman suffered brain injuries and is reported to be in critical condition. The driver has been arrested and is under investigation for suspected marijuana use.
