Head-On Motorcycle Crashes Are Often Devastating

Head-on collisions involving motorcycles frequently result in catastrophic injuries because riders lack the structural protection available in passenger vehicles.

Common consequences include:

When investigating a fatal truck and motorcycle collision, authorities typically examine a variety of factors to determine what caused the crash.

Potential Causes Investigators May Examine

Key Evidence Often Reviewed

  • Skid marks and roadway evidence
  • Vehicle damage patterns
  • Final resting positions of the vehicles
  • Witness statements
  • Electronic data recorder (black box) information
  • Accident reconstruction analysis

These findings can be critical in determining liability and whether the collision could have been prevented.

Rights of Families After a Fatal Motorcycle Accident

When a loved one dies in a traffic collision, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim under California Code of Civil Procedure §§377.60–377.61.

Compensation may include:

  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • Loss of financial support and future earnings
  • Loss of companionship, guidance, and emotional support
  • Economic and non-economic damages permitted by law

If investigators determine that a driver crossed into oncoming traffic, that finding may become important evidence in establishing civil liability.
