(Los Angeles, CA) A woman died and a six-year-old girl was hospitalized following a terrible hit-and-run accident in the Mild-Wishire area of Los Angeles. Initial investigations suggest that the victims are a mother and daughter, who were hit by a truck while walking towards the school.
The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on the 6000 block of Colgate Avenue near Hancock Park school. Los Angeles police reported that, according to witnesses at the scene, the mother and daughter were walking on the pedestrian sidewalk when the truck hit them near a curve on the road and then crashed into a two-story apartment.
The woman was declared dead at the scene, while the girl was hospitalized in critical condition.
Initial investigations indicate that the truck was traveling southbound on Ogden Drive when it crashed into the victims, causing a collapse of their belongings throughout the area. The truck driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the cause of this fatal accident in Los Angeles.
The investigation is ongoing.
