Woman Dies in Tragic Accident on Highway 41 in Fresno

Fresno, California – On the night of Saturday, May 18, a tragic accident on Highway 41 in Fresno County claimed the life of a woman and resulted in the arrest of a driver suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the victim is Mary Hardin, 65, a resident of Helotes, Texas. Hardin was in the Central Valley on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The DUI suspect has been identified as David Alvarado, 54, from Madera.

The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of northbound Highway 41 and Manning Avenue. The California Highway Patrol reported that a Nissan and a Camaro were stopped at a traffic light when a Ford truck, driven by Alvarado, rear-ended the Nissan, pushing it into the Camaro.

Mary Hardin, who was driving the Nissan, died at the scene of the accident. An unidentified man, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. The drivers of the Camaro and the Ford truck were also taken to the hospital, but only sustained minor injuries.

Authorities arrested David Alvarado on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
