Cyclist Dies After Collision with Motorcyclist in San Jose

San Jose, California – A cyclist who was critically injured after being struck by a motorcyclist in San Jose last week has succumbed to their injuries, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities.

According to a press release issued by the San Jose Police Department, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, around 6:43 p.m., a collision between a motorcycle and a cyclist was reported in the 4400 block of Hamilton Avenue. Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male riding a 2018 black Kawasaki Ninja was traveling eastbound on Hamilton Avenue when he collided with an adult cyclist crossing northbound on Hamilton Avenue, outside any marked crosswalk.

The motorcyclist involved in the accident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. According to police reports, there were no indications of alcohol or drugs being involved in the collision.

The cyclist was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, they tragically passed away on Sunday as a result of those injuries. This tragic incident marks the tenth fatal collision and the tenth traffic-related death so far in the year 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office once official confirmation has been made and the closest relatives have been notified.
