Tragic Death of 12-Year-Old in Boat Accident

According to information from the Department of Natural Resources, a 12-year-old child from Georgia recently died after getting trapped under a boat in the Oconee River.

The department reported that Georgia rangers were headed to the scene on Saturday when they were informed that a man had hit a sandbank in his boat, causing his son, Colton Foskey, to be ejected and become trapped under the vessel.

Officials stated that attempts were made to revive the child, but he was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

The Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident, and the coroner Greg Higgs has confirmed that the child’s body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

In the face of such a heartbreaking loss, the community has come together to offer unconditional support to the child’s family. East Laurens School has become a gathering place for those who wish to express their condolences and solidarity.
